On October 27, 1 pm, in the Activity Center Hohokam Room, the Geology Club will hold its first meeting. David Korzendorfer will present, “Minerals of Arizona.” David Korzendorfer is a retired geologist and avid mineral collector. He worked as a mineral exploration geologist for several mining companies. He is Vice President and Program Chair for the Tucson Gem and Mineral Society This program is free and guests are welcome. The SCOV Geology Club will present, “Fluorescent and Fab,” on Tuesday, January 26, 2027, 1:00 pm, Activity Center/Hohokam. Members of the Club will show specimens of fluorescent rocks and demonstrate how they glow under ultraviolet lights. They will also explain what causes the phenomenon of fluorescence. Everyone is invited to bring rocks that they wish to have identified by knowledgeable Club members. This program is free and guests are welcome. No reservations are required.
