Description

The 1.2-mile Geology Trail at Oracle State Park highlights 1.7 billion years of history, including ancient granite boulders, igneous intrusions, and active fault lines. It is a relatively easy hiking experience featuring 10 marked stops.

Doug Gouzie, retired geologist, will lead this field trip, which is for Geology Club members only. Participants will meet behind the Welcome Center at 8:30 am. Carpools will be organized so that the entrance fee can be split between occupants of each car.

Cars will leave Sun City at 8:45 am and drive about 30 minutes to Oracle State Park.

We will complete the trail in about one hour and drive back to Sun City, arriving about 11:00 am.

Registration is required and a Liability Waiver must be signed by each participant. Because of the small trail, the number of participants will be limited to 10, plus leaders.
